We need your help! The more volunteers we have, the more people we can serve right here in Charm City. Some specific volunteer opportunities are listed on our Volunteer Hub page, but if you have an idea for how you would like to contribute that isn’t listed, please email us details.
Donate to Baltimore
So What Else would not be able to help so many people throughout Baltimore without the kindness of those who have the means. We accept both monetary and in-kind donations of any amount! There are many ways to donate:
Monetary Donations

In-kind Donations
Donations can be brought to either of our locations in Baltimore. Please contact us first to schedule a time so we can make sure staff is available to assist you.

We will gladly accept any of the following gently used or new items:
- Clean Clothing (all ages and genders)
- Clean Shoes and Accessories (all ages and genders)
- Household Goods (no broken items)
- Electronics and Appliances (must work and include all cables)
- Toys and Games (no broken items, must include all necessary pieces and work)
- Diapers and Baby Wipes (unopened packages only, no loose diapers)
- Baby Toys and Baby-specific Furniture (no broken items, must include all necessary pieces and work)
- Cleaning Supplies (unopened packages/bottles only)
- Toiletries (soap, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.)
- Feminine hygiene products
- If you have furniture or anything large to donate, please email us to check first.
We will also accept non-perishable food items such as:
- Canned meats (eg, tuna, chicken)
- Canned beans, fruits & veggies
- Rice, pasta, and lentils
- Peanut butter
- Shelf-stable milk and milk substitutesCereal and oatmeal
- Soup
- Pasta and pasta sauce
- Cooking oil
- Baby formula and baby food
- Granola bars & snacks
We reserve the right to refuse donations if the items are deemed unclean, broken, or unsafe to use or consume.
Community Service Hours
Are you a high school student in need of Community Service hours? We are happy to set up a summer or after-school internship. Please have your career center or professor email us with the guidelines we need to follow.
Interning in Baltimore
Are you a college student who needs to do an internship? Check with your school’s career center for more information. We post our internships on Handshake.
If you have your own idea for an internship, email baltimore@sowhatelse.org with the following:
- Name, school, contact information
- Proposed: Dates of internship, total number of hours, goals, tasks, remote/in-person split, location(s)
Research
Are you a grad student or professor interested in research related to food insecurity? Please email baltimore@sowhatelse.org with a description of your project, including timeline, funding and IRB details, KPIs you will need to collect, and the extent to which you will need to interact with our clients. We do not ask our clients for their names, contact information, etc.

Is your organization interested in partnering with So What Else Baltimore? Although our schedule is very full, we would love to hear from you!
